Roads destroyed by floods will be repaired immediately the rains subside. The national highways authority director Meshack Kidenda has revealed that assessment of the damage will be done once the rain ceases.

Roads have been destroyed and bridges swept away by floods caused by the heavy rains being experienced around the country in the past two weeks.

A bridge in Shartuka-Romoka road Trans Mara was last week swept away by floods paralysing transport and economic activities in the area.

A section of the Nairobi-Nakuru highway near Naivasha town was also closed down early this week after a bridge collapsed due to the heavy rains. Kidendia said they will however make temporary arrangements to ensure that transport is not be paralyzed.
