A school guard was hacked to death and another seriously injured after armed robbers raided Chumani Secondary School in Kilifi district.
Kilifi police boss Clement Wangai said the body of the watchman was discovered by students in the morning. The body had deep cuts and wonds inflicted by a blunt object. "The students found the other watchman who was manning the administration block lying unconscious in a pool of blood," Wangai said.
The students informed the principal Rachael Kazungu, and the injured watchman was rushed to Kilifi District Hospital. During the raid, the school administration block was broken into but by the time of going to press, police were yet to establish whether there was anything stolen Police have launched investigations into the matter.
Kilifi county director of education Dickson ole Keis said the watchman could have been killed after he denied the thugs access to the school. Ole Keis further claimed that things would have been different if the watchmen were in a position where they could see each other.
